This Privacy Policy explains what information TextTooling.com collects when you use our website and tools, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and legal rights you have over it. Please read it alongside our Terms of Service and Disclaimer.
1. Who We Are
TextTooling.com (“TextTooling”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the website at texttooling.com. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), TextTooling.com is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
You can reach us about any privacy matter through our Contact page. We aim to respond to privacy requests within 30 days.
2. Information We Collect
Good News: We Don't Collect Your Text Data
All text processing on TextTooling.com happens entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. We do not collect, store, transmit, or log any text you paste into or generate with our tools. Your text never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit our website, the following information is collected automatically by us, by our hosting provider, or by the third-party services listed in Section 5:
- Usage data: pages visited, referring page, time spent on the site, links and buttons clicked, and approximate geographic location derived from your IP address
- Device and browser data: browser type and version, operating system, screen size, device type, and language settings
- IP address: logged by our hosting provider for security, abuse prevention, and troubleshooting, and processed by our analytics and advertising partners
- Cookies and identifiers: cookies, advertising identifiers, and similar technologies set by us and by our partners — see Section 4
Information You Provide
If you contact us through our Contact page, we receive whatever information you choose to include in your message so that we can reply to you. We do not require you to create an account to use any tool on this site.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve our website and tools
- Understand which tools are used and how, so we can build more of what is useful
- Keep the site secure and prevent abuse, fraud, and automated attacks
- Remember your preferences, such as light or dark theme
- Display advertising, including personalised advertising, which is how this site is funded
- Respond to messages and privacy requests you send us
Legal Bases (EEA and UK Visitors)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases under Article 6 GDPR:
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Running and securing the site | Legitimate interests (keeping the service available and protected from abuse) |
| Analytics cookies | Consent |
| Advertising and personalised advertising cookies | Consent |
| Replying to your messages | Legitimate interests (answering the enquiry you sent us) |
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time using the methods in Section 4. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that already took place.
4. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We and our partners use them, together with browser localStorage, for the purposes below.
Set Directly by This Site
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| theme | localStorage | Remembers your light or dark mode choice | Until you clear it |
| cookie-consent | localStorage | Remembers your response to the cookie banner so it is not shown again | Until you clear it |
Neither of these is used for tracking, and neither leaves your device.
Set by Third Parties
Google Analytics, Mediavine and its partners, and our other advertising partners set their own cookies and identifiers for analytics, ad delivery, ad measurement, and frequency capping. These are controlled by those companies, and their names and lifetimes can change without notice — the authoritative list is in the privacy policies linked in Section 5.
Your Cookie Choices
- Cookie banner: use the banner shown on your first visit to record your choice. To see it again and change your answer, clear this site's data in your browser settings.
- Personalised ads: opt out at Google Ads Settings and at YourAdChoices or Your Online Choices (EU).
- Google Analytics: install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Browser controls: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies, and clear site data. Blocking cookies does not stop our tools from working, since they run locally.
5. Third-Party Services
We work with the following third parties. Each is an independent controller of the data it collects, and each handles that data under its own privacy policy:
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic and understand how visitors use the site. It collects usage data, device data, and a truncated or full IP address, and assigns a pseudonymous identifier to your browser. We do not send any text you enter into our tools to Google Analytics. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google Analytics safeguards data.
Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
TextTooling.com works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on this site. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file that is sent to your computer, and browsers commonly accept cookies by default. You can change your browser settings to block, delete, or disable cookies if you prefer, though doing so may affect how this and other websites function.
Mediavine and its partners may use the following data, as permitted by applicable law, to associate an identifier with your device and provide advertising: IP address, operating system type and version, device type, language, web browser type and version, and email address in hashed, non-human-readable form. Mediavine Partners may separately collect data about you from other sources and link that data to information collected here, in order to provide interest-based advertising across your devices, browsers, and apps.
For information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects, and their own data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners. You can also review the Mediavine Privacy Policy.
To opt out of interest-based advertising more broadly, visit the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page, the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page, or download the AppChoices app for mobile devices. If you are in the EEA or UK, use the Update Privacy Settings link in our site footer to change your advertising consent choices at any time. If you are in the United States, use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in our site footer — see also Section 11 below.
Hosting
This site is hosted on Netlify, which processes connection data including IP addresses in its server logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See the Netlify Privacy Policy.
6. Service Worker and Offline Caching
We Do Not Send Push Notifications
This site does not ask for notification permission and does not send you browser notifications of any kind.
This site registers a service worker — a small script your browser runs in the background — for one purpose only: to cache pages so the site loads faster on repeat visits and keeps working if you go offline.
Cached pages are stored in your browser's own cache storage and never leave your device. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings unregisters the service worker and deletes everything it has cached.
7. Data Storage and Retention
We Operate No User Database
We do not run accounts, and we do not maintain a database of visitors or of the text you process. Your preferences are stored only in your own browser's localStorage and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings.
Data held by our providers is retained as follows:
- Google Analytics: event and user data is retained according to our configured retention period in Google Analytics, after which Google deletes it
- Advertising partners: retained per Google's and Mediavine's own policies, linked in Section 5
- Server logs: retained by our host for a short period for security and diagnostics
- Contact messages: kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up
8. International Data Transfers
Our service providers operate globally, so information collected about you may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where data is transferred out of the EEA or the UK, our providers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-U.S. and UK-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
9. Data Security
This site is served exclusively over HTTPS, and because every tool runs locally in your browser, the text you process is never transmitted and therefore cannot be intercepted in transit or exposed by a breach of our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information handled by the third parties listed in Section 5.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal data:
- Access: ask what personal data is held about you and receive a copy
- Rectification: have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected
- Erasure: ask for your data to be deleted
- Restriction: ask us to limit how your data is used
- Portability: receive your data in a portable, machine-readable format
- Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to processing for direct marketing at any time
- Withdraw consent: withdraw consent for cookies at any time, as described in Section 4
To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our Contact page. Because we do not operate accounts and hold no directly identifying information about visitors, we may need additional detail from you to locate any data relating to you — and for data held by Google or Mediavine, you may need to submit your request directly to them.
EEA and UK visitors: you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO); in the EEA, a list of authorities is available from the European Data Protection Board.
11. Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA gives you specific rights. In the preceding 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (such as IP address and cookie or advertising identifiers), internet or network activity information (such as pages viewed and interactions), and coarse geolocation inferred from IP address. We collect these for the purposes described in Section 3, from the sources described in Section 2.
Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. We do not sell personal information for money. However, our use of advertising cookies to deliver personalised and cross-context behavioural advertising may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under the CPRA. To opt out you can use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in our site footer, decline via our cookie banner, opt out of personalised ads at Google Ads Settings and YourAdChoices, enable a Global Privacy Control signal in a supporting browser, or contact us directly.
You also have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, to request correction, to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not collect sensitive personal information), and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
Submit a request through our Contact page. You may use an authorised agent to submit a request on your behalf.
12. Children's Privacy
Our website is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies under local law, such as in parts of the EEA). If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, our partners, or the law. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the “Last Updated” date above. Material changes will be highlighted on the site. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
14. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, or wish to exercise any of the rights described above, please get in touch:
Visit our Contact Us page to get in touch. Please mark your message “Privacy” so we can route it correctly.
This Privacy Policy is effective as of 2026-08-04 and applies to all users of TextTooling.com.
